History 12 Chapter 6 – Conflicts and convergence 1945-1950

1. Looking carefully at the body language in the Big Three photograph, what does the picture tell you about each man. What does it tell you about the relationship between them.

2. Compare Stalin’s Two Worlds speech of 1946 to Churchills Iron Curtin Speech, what are the similarities and differences between the two in predicting or outlining the future of the world.

3. Using the map on pg 124 Chapter 6, what connections can you make between the policy of containment, the Truman Doctrine, and the Marshall Plan.

    1.Each men looks friendly and stable,they seem to be on friendly terms,it doesn’t seem awkward.

    2.Stalin think that war was inevitable in any system where capitalism is dominant
    Winston Churchill think their supreme task and duty is to guard the homes of the common people from the horrors and miseries of another war. There’s two great dangers which menace the homes of the people: War and Tyranny. if the dangers of war and tyranny are removed, there is no doubt that science and cooperation can bring in the next few years to the world

    3.United States would help any nation resist communism in order to prevent its spread. His policy of containment is known as the Truman Doctrine.
